Asociación Peruana de Medical Coders (APMC) es la primera organización especializada en profesionalizar y elevar el estándar de la codificación médica, facturación sanitaria y cumplimiento normativo en el Perú.
APMC nace para cubrir una brecha estructural en el sistema de salud: la ausencia de una referencia técnica, consolidada y práctica del Catálogo de Procedimientos Médicos y Sanitarios (CPMS), instrumento oficial regulado por el Ministerio de Salud.
Liderazgo de Clase Mundial
Fundada por Yasmin Melo, egresada de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), con más de 21 años de trayectoria profesional en el ciclo de ingresos hospitalarios en Estados Unidos. Tras trabajar más de 5 años en Cornell University, fue reclutada en 2008 por el Columbia University Medical Center (CUIMC), donde consolidó su liderazgo en operaciones de facturación y cumplimiento. En 2018, fortaleció su perfil técnico obteniendo la Certificación de Analista de Datos de Cornell University.
Cuenta con certificaciones internacionales de alto nivel (RCMS, CMC, CPC) y un conocimiento profundo del sistema CPT estadounidense, base del reembolso y la facturación médica en Estados Unidos. El CPMS peruano adoptó una estructura inspirada en el CPT, incorporando códigos adaptados al contexto local y añadiendo procedimientos específicos para el sistema sanitario peruano, especialmente en áreas preventivas y de salud colectiva. Esta experiencia internacional posiciona a APMC con una ventaja técnica única para interpretar, estructurar y enseñar el catálogo nacional con estándares globales adaptados a la realidad peruana.
Nuestra Misión
Profesionalizar la codificación médica en el Perú mediante herramientas técnicas claras, estructuradas y alineadas con la normativa vigente. APMC desarrolla el primer libro comercial de referencia del CPMS, que integra los 12,141 procedimientos oficiales establecidos por la RM N° 550-2023-MINSA, con descripciones optimizadas, organización por especialidad, notas prácticas y orientación regulatoria.

About Us
Asociación Peruana de Medical Coders (APMC) is the first specialized organization dedicated to professionalizing and elevating the standards of medical coding, healthcare billing, and regulatory compliance in Peru.
APMC was established to address a structural gap in the healthcare system: the absence of a consolidated, practical, and commercially accessible reference for the Catálogo de Procedimientos Médicos y Sanitarios (CPMS), the official catalog regulated by the Ministerio de Salud.
Elite LeadershipFounded by Yasmin Melo, a graduate of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), with more than 21 years of professional experience in U.S. hospital revenue cycle management. Following more than five years at Cornell University, she was recruited by Columbia University Medical Center (CUIMC) in 2008, where she solidified her leadership in billing operations and compliance. In 2018, she further enhanced her technical expertise by earning her Data Analyst Certificate from Cornell University.
She holds internationally recognized certifications (RCMS, CMC, CPC) and possesses deep knowledge of the U.S. CPT system, the foundation of reimbursement and medical billing in the American market. Peru’s CPMS adopted a structure modeled after CPT, incorporating adapted codes and adding procedures specific to the Peruvian healthcare context, particularly in preventive and collective health areas. This international background gives APMC a distinctive technical advantage in interpreting, structuring, and teaching the national catalog with global precision adapted to local regulations.

We are publishing the first commercial reference book for the CPMS, integrating all 12,141 official procedures (RM N° 550-2023-MINSA) with optimized descriptions, specialty-based organization, practical notes, and regulatory guidance.
